Engineering has never really occurred to me as an option for my future until a few months ago. Since I began high school, I have had to think more clearly about what I wanted my world to look like in years to come. Because of this, I have looked back on my interests and passions present in my life. An engineering path is one that I have been brought closer to more recently. This interest has grown through the experiences I have had along the way; some of which are my love for math, my passion for art, and the care I have for the environment.
An important aspect for practically every field of engineering is math. I started to enjoy math the most in eighth grade because of my teacher, Mr. Temar. He is one of my favorite teachers and the person who made clear to me that math is one of my strengths. When my class was discussing what we wanted to be when we grew up, I told him I wanted to be an architect or something else involving math. He was the first person to introduce me to the idea of engineering. He knew I enjoyed math, so he explained engineering. He explained that there are countless different types of engineering, most involving math in some way, and that it is a great option to keep in mind.
I have loved art for as long as I remember. From drawing the simplest stick figures in Kindergarten to now constructing detailed drawings, art has always sparked an interest in me.

Recently, I have been fascinated by architecture because I enjoy designing things and I am a bit of a perfectionist. Additionally, I like observing intricately designed buildings, both online and in real life. Being interested in this has led me to the idea of engineering, specifically architectural engineering, which involves both math and sketching, two things I succeed in.
The environment and care for our planet is another thing that I am passionate about. In fifth grade, I decided to join the environmental club at my school, which was run by my art teacher. At this club, I first developed my genuine care for the environment. Currently, I still attempt to care for the environment as much as possible; including things such as turning lights off when not in use or not wasting water. Since I am interested in the health of our planet, environmental engineering has also come to my attention. I want our world’s condition to change for the better, before it is too late. Environmental engineering is an incredible option for my future to make this dream come true.
In conclusion, I am excited to explore the various fields of engineering, especially architectural and environmental.

I look forward to the possibility of utilizing some of my favorite subjects, such as mathematics and art, as well as my love for the environment, in my future career.
